  The Meetings Industry Association (mia) is the leading trade association representing the UK’s business meetings and events sector.
For over three decades the mia has been the driving force for change and innovation in theindustry, championing business growth and excellence while raising the profile and importance of the sector to government.
It supports its members with relevant resources and guides, a multitude of training and
networking opportunities and is the keeper of AIM Secure accreditation, the UK’s only
recognised quality standard for the meetings industry.

 

  HBAA and beam is the trade association for the Meetings, Events, and Accommodation Industry an underpinned by four pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Ethics, and Quality. Our members include both the agencies who procure and deliver accommodation and events on behalf of their corporate clients, and the hotels, venues and serviced apartments they work with; collectively we are a major contributor to the £70bn business tourism spend delivered annually into the UK economy. The association drives, promotes and models good business between its members. It champions best practice, ethical working, and sound commercial judgment, making HBAA and beam membership the mark of quality assurance for the sector.   Green Key is a voluntary eco-label for hotels, hostels, campsites, holiday parks, small accommodations as well as conference centres, attractions and restaurants. The Green Key award is based on compliance with strict criteria in the areas of environmental management (water, energy, waste, cleaning, etc.) and sustainability education (staff, guests, suppliers, etc.). Compliance with the criteria is confirmed through a rigorous application process and verified at on-site audits. The award is valid for one year at a time. Currently (May 2021), more than 3,000 establishments in 60 countries are Green Key awarded. The programme is managed by the international charity, the Foundation for Environmental Education. Green Key is endorsed by the World Tourism Organisation and its hotel criteria are recognised by Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
